DriveNorth: Looking Forward
On February 1, 2010, the DriveNorth national headquarters officially opens its doors at the University of Ottawa. It’s new address will on the seventh floor of the Telfer School of Management.
DriveNorth is excited to be associated with the University and takes special pride in the fact that this national industrial initiative has found a partner in “Canada’s university,” the University of Ottawa.
As the centre of the DriveNorth program, the university will raise the profile of DriveNorth and assist in developing the goals and strategies that will ensure the success of the initiative on the national stage.
DriveNorth now has support from several universities and provinces and now working with these partners to develop and implement this unifying national industrial goal for Canada.
A national goal
DriveNorth is a national industrial initiative that partners universities, private sector companies, provinces, and the federal government for the goal of building a truly Canadian auto sector.
Drivenorth is about building, partnering and sharing wealth of ideas on a national basis, and although it seeks very specific ends, its key goals fall into three categories:
- To develop international markets for Canada
- To increase Canadian intellectual capital, capability and create wealth
- To seed the rebirth of manufacturing in Canada
DriveNorth is partnering not only provincially and nationally, but also working to build partnerships internationally with existing auto manufacturers. These partnerships will expedite Canada’s quick entry into the market which will allow Canadian companies build the abilities needed to quickly repatriate all aspects of the auto sector as the sector develops in the country.
